Zack, Rae & Daniel Cartee
Zack, Rae & Daniel Cartee

Zack Cartee graduated from Cincinnati College of Mortuary Science with an Associate of Applied Science degree in September 2005. He was recognized by the college for his outstanding restorative art ability with the Delane L. Beaver Award. Zack also earned a Bachelors of Science degree in Theatre from Indiana State University in 2000. He attained the distinction of 'master carpenter' while employed with the Meadow Brook Theater in Rochester Hills, MI.

As the son of a preacher, he has lived in several different towns throughout Indiana, Ohio, Michigan and Kentucky. Zack and his wife, Rae, reside above the funeral home at the Liberty location. Rae is the Family Service Advisor for Showalter Blackwell Long Funeral Homes. On July 9, 2008 Daniel Cartee made his welcomed arrival to the Cartee family.  Zack is a licensed funeral director.

"Showalter Blackwell Long Funeral Homes are committed to superior funeral service to every family and Zack is an integral part of that mission," stated Joel Long, General Manager.

A native of Waveland, Indiana, Rae grew up in a home that shared its backyard with the local funeral home.  When her husband, Zack, enrolled at the Cincinnati College of Mortuary Science, and subsequently became employed at Showalter Blackwell Long Funeral Homes in 2005, Rae became quite familiar with funeral service.  Living above the funeral home in Liberty with Zack, Rae once again shares her backyard with a funeral home.  Although Rae has also lived in Michigan and Ohio, she has always been proud of her Indiana heritage and is thrilled to have returned in April 2006.  Rae recently shortened her commute significantly when she left a position as a financial advisor in Cincinnati to join Showalter Blackwell Long Funeral Home.  Previously, Rae was the Assistant to the Development Team Leader at Meadow Brook Theater in Rochester Hills, Michigan, as well as being the Costume Shop's First Hand.  Rae is a member of the Chancel Choir at Hagerstown United Methodist Church, where she also serves on the Worship Committee and is a Youth Group Leader.  Through professional connections in Cincinnati, e-Women Network and the Southern Butler County chapter of the American Business Women's Association count Rae among their membership.  Rae, whose given name is Rachel, holds Series 7 and 66 licenses, which allow her to broker securities in Indiana, Ohio, and Kentucky, and is a licensed Life Insurance agent in those states, as well.  In her free time, Rae enjoys baking, sewing, and spending time outdoors with family and friends.

"Rae brings added benefits to the families we serve with her background as a financial advisor," stated Joel Long, general manager.  "Her compassion and understanding will be of great benefit in helping families deal with the many changes that may be confronted following a death."
