Vada H. Witter, 91, formerly of West College Corner and recently of Oxford, died Sunday, July 18, 2010 at the Knolls of Oxford.
A Union County native, Vada was born March 10, 1919 to Clarence and Stella Sayers Wooley. On November 10, 1938 she was married to Wayne Witter. Vada was an avid bowler, enjoyed square dancing, spending time with her great grandchildren and attended College Corner First United Presbyterian Church.
Survivors include her sons and their wives: Jerrold and Betsy Witter of Palm Bay, Florida; Dannie and Nancy Witter of West College Corner; four grandsons: Mike Witter, Derek Witter, both of Palm Bay, Florida, Anthony Witter and his wife Kelly, Shane Witter, all of Bath; four great-grandchildren: Paige, Justin, Jack, and Troy; several nieces and nephews.
Vada was preceded in death by her parents, her husband: Wayne, who died February 19, 2006; an infant son; two brothers: Leroy Wooley, Bill Veren Wooley; two sisters: Doris Heavenridge, Neva Welsh.
Funeral services will be conducted at 1:00 p.m. on Friday, July 23, 2010 at Showalter Blackwell Long Funeral Home, Baker Chapel, College Corner with Reverend Ron Wilson officiating. Interment will follow in College Corner Cemetery. Friends may visit at the funeral home from 11:00 a.m. until the time of the service where memorial contributions may be made to West College Corner Volunteer Fire Department.
