Former Fayette County resident Barbara Jean Sallee, 94, of Salt Lick, Kentucky died Thursday, August 27, 2026, at UK St. Clair Hospital.

The daughter of Shurrel F. and Pearl Turner Gough, Barbara was born in Connersville on November 29, 1931. She graduated from Connersville High School in 1949. Barbara married Clarence “CJ” Sallee Jr. on June 14, 1974 and enjoyed 38 years of marriage before he passed in 2012. She was employed as a community developer and grant administrator for Fayette County and served her community for sixteen years prior to retiring in January 1998. She was a member of St. Gabriel’s Catholic Church, ETA PI KAPPA sorority, FMH Auxiliary, and VFW Auxiliary. She enjoyed creamer with a side of coffee, beach vacations with her family, Hallmark movies, chocolate covered cherries, Kunkel’s fish and tenderloin sandwiches, FaceTime with her family, knitting and crocheting. Most of all, she enjoyed her daughters, grandchildren and her great grandchildren. She was fiercely proud of her family and texted every night sending her love to all. She was fortunate to be surrounded by loving family in her final moments. It was what she wanted more than anything.

Barbara is survived by her daughters: Linda Chiles, Vickie Long, Cheryl Fielden and Keith; step-sons: Richard Sallee and Raymond Sallee; grandchildren: Autumn Parker and Mike, Joshua Long and Amy, Andy Long and Susan, Julie Long, Angela Fielden, and Keisha Lykins; great-grandchildren, Clayton Parker and Kaitlyn, Cade Parker, and Zoe Parker; Lydia, Elliot, Vivian, Joshua Jude, Johnna, June and Joel Long, Winnifred Weaver; Jocelyn and Alaina Baran, Draven, Lucius, Shiloh and Angel Lykins; several nieces and nephews including Sandy Lewis and Debbie Showalter and Tim; Great nephews Brad Lewis and Steve Showalter.

In addition to her parents, Barb is preceded in death by her husband of thirty-eight years; brother and sister-in-law: Francis and Patty Gough; sister and brother-in-law Betty Campbell and Ernest; son-in-law Joel D. Long; Nephew Terry Campbell and great nephew Tim “Bo” Showalter.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be conducted at 11:00 a.m., Saturday, September 5, 2026, at St. Gabriel Catholic Church officiated by Father Nick Pagano. Burial will immediately follow at Dale Cemetery. Friends may visit at the church from 10:00 a.m. until the time of Mass. Memorial contributions may be made to the PTC Ministries Connersville Disaster Relief Fund in her honor. Showalter Blackwell Long Funeral Home, Myers Chapel, Connersville has been entrusted with her arrangements
