Carolyn Shedd

Carolyn A. Shedd, 85, of Connersville died Monday morning, July 21, 2025, at her residence with her loving husband and family by her side.

The daughter of Lowell and Elizabeth Smith Jones, Carolyn was born on May 15, 1940. She graduated from Connersville Senior High with the class of 1958. Carolyn married her high school sweetheart, Curtis Shedd on April 9, 1960, at Bentonville Christian Church. She has been a faithful member of Grand Ave. United Methodist Church for many years. Carolyn was a homemaker, caring for her family’s needs and tending to their home. She enjoyed hosting family gatherings and making some of her famous dishes – homemade noodles, cheeseballs, cookies, and buckeyes, just to name a few. In addition, Carolyn enjoyed shopping, and Curtis enjoyed driving her wherever she wanted to go. When her shopping was complete, they would stop for ice cream. Carolyn was very family oriented. She adored spending time with all her children and attending her grandchildren’s sporting events. In her spare time, you could find Carolyn blissfully watching the hummingbirds at her house. Though their hearts are broken, her family finds comfort knowing she is at peace while watching hummingbirds in the presence of the Lord.

In addition to her loving husband of sixty-five years, Curtis, Carolyn is survived by her children: Alan (Dottie) Shedd, Larry Shedd, Bethan(Jeff) Ervin, Judi (Tim) Swanson; grandchildren: Greggory (Stephanie) Shedd, Matthew (Kylie) Shedd, Nathan (Kristen) Shedd, Michelle (Jamie) Cain, Tristan Frye, Aaron Ervin, Nick (Lydia) Ervin, Andrew Ervin, Emily (Daniel) McClinton, Danielle Smith, Ally Swanson, Ella Swanson, Katelyn (Fiancé Caleb Redman) Smith, Kylie Smith; great-grandchildren: Isaiah Shedd, Elijah Shedd, Khloe Shedd, Doug Cain, Dylan Cain, Marissa Cain, Owen Ervin, Scarlett McClinton, and one on the way; several nieces and nephews.

Carolyn is preceded in death by her parents: Lowell and Elizabeth; sister: Kathryn Williams; brother: Richard Jones; mother and father- in-law: Harry and Edith Shedd; son-in-law: Danny Smith; brother-in-law: Jack Shedd.

The funeral service will be conducted at 1:30p.m, Saturday July 26, 2025, at Showalter Blackwell Long, Myers Chapel, Connersville with Pastor Stephen Flores officiating. Burial will follow at Bentonville Cemetery. Friends and family may gather at the funeral home from 12:00 p.m., until the time of service. Carolyn was a breast cancer survivor. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to your favorite breast cancer research facility.
