Dolores C. Howell

Dolores C. Howell, 97, of Connersville, died Thursday, August 20, 2026, at Reid Health in Richmond.

Dolores was born in Dayton, Ohio, on June 28th, 1929, the daughter of Clarence E. and Irene M. Goodwin Kemp. She moved with her family to Connersville when she was a child. She graduated from Connersville Senior High School with the class of 1947. After graduation, Dolores became the secretary for McQuay-Norris Manufacturing Company in Connersville. She then went on to become the legal secretary for H. H. Robertson Company, serving in many administrative capacities for over twenty-one years. She later worked for Kroger in Greensburg, Indiana, in the office department, retiring in 1994. Never one to not work, after her retirement from Kroger, Dolores worked for the Indiana School Pictures Department part-time. Dolores was a dedicated member of the Delta Theta Tau Sorority; she held numerous positions within the sorority. She was the past National President from 1980 to 1981 and was on the National Council as well for over eight years. Dolores will be remembered for her hard work ethic and being the wonderful mother and grandmother that she was.

Dolores is survived by her son: Bruce Howell and his wife, Cindy; her daughter: Sheila Gribbins; granddaughters: Tara Wildridge and Jennifer Howell; three great- granddaughters; four great-great-grandchildren.

Dolores is preceded in death by her parents, Clarence E. and Irene M. Goodwin Kemp and her sister: Eileen Price.

The funeral service for Dolores will be conducted at 2:00 p.m. on Thursday, August 27, 2026, at Showalter Blackwell Long Funeral Home, Myers Chapel, Connersville. Following the service, Dolores will be laid to rest at Dale Cemetery. Friends and family may gather at the funeral home from 11:00 a.m. until the time of service. Memorial Contributions may be made to Delta Theta Tau Sorority, in Dolores’s honor.
