Jewel D. Elston, 77, of Bath, Indiana died Saturday, July 18, 2026, in Hamilton, Ohio.
Jewel was born in Big Creek County, Kentucky prior to moving to West College Corner as a small child. She was the daughter of William and Rhoda Baker Sizemore. Jewel graduated from High School and attended beauty school to become a licensed beautician. She was later employed at the former Square D in Oxford where she met her future husband. In 1998, she married William “Bill” Elston Sr., on a mountain top near Pigeon Forge, Tennessee. They traveled back to Tennessee multiple times a year to savor the breathtaking views, the cozy cabins, and each other’s company. Jewel was an avid shopper who thoroughly enjoyed bringing home toys for her grandchildren, and gifts for her friends and family. She was also a collector of dolls. Jewel had acquired an assortment of dolls over the years that she was very fond of. She also enjoyed listening to blue grass, watching Westerns, Disney, and spending her time with her family. Jewel’s loving and caring nature will be greatly missed by her family and friends.
In addition to Bill, Jewel is survived by her son: Matthew Fletcher; grandchildren: Jericho and Ryder; brother: Leslie Sizemore; sisters: Marie Marcum and Irene Craine; stepchildren: William Elston Jr., Charlie Elston, Crystal Elston and Steven Nunn, Kathy Wilkinson; 8 step-grandchildren; five step-great-grandchildren; several nephews, nieces and extended family members.
Jewel is preceded in death by her parents, William and Rhoda; two infant daughters: Julie and Jill; brother: Billy Jean Sizemore; sister: Ann Persinger.
Jewel’s funeral service will be conducted at 12:00 p.m., on Thursday, July 23, 2026, at Showalter Blackwell Long Funeral Home, Fosdick Chapel, Liberty. Following the service she will be laid to rest at Oxford Cemetery. Friends and family may gather at the funeral home from 11:00 a.m., until the time of service.
