Mabel "Sue" Horn, 86, of Connersville, died peacefully on Tuesday, April 28, 2026, at Majestic Care.
The daughter of George Delles and Mabel Davis, Sue was born on November 28, 1939, in Toledo, Ohio. She attended Scott High School in Toledo, prior to receiving her bachelor’s degree in social work from IU East. Sue moved to the Connersville area where she was employed at Dr. Sander’s office for twenty years. She was a faithful member of St. Gabriel’s Catholic Church. Sue was a social butterfly who loved to chat with her fellow parishioners, neighbors, and her friends at Parkview restaurant. She adored flowers and found joy planting them in her flowerpots. In addition, Sue enjoyed playing solitaire, working wordsearch puzzles, and watching movies. She wore many hats over the years, but her favorite titles were mother and grandmother. Sue loved nothing more than spending time with her family. Though she is deeply missed, her family knows she is now at peace.
Sue is survived by her children and their spouses: Donnie and Teresa Smith, LaDonna and Steve Reinhardt, and Jaycen Smith; brother: John Delles; sister: Dawn Lewis; grandchildren: Zach and Amy Smith, Cassandra and Andy Steele, Leia and Derrick Harrison, Skyler Smith, Matt Richardson and Amber, Cindel Richardson and Joe, James Reinhardt, Terran Smith, Quentin Smith, Caisson Smith; great-grandchildren: Gwyneth Thompson, Emily Sizemore, Owen Sizemore, Sophia Smith, Naomi Smith, Phoenix and Trinitee Steele, Rylin Handy and Zoie, Bently Harrison, Aryia Harrison, Briden Smith, Sawyer Smith, Kaden Richardson, Jaxon Smith, Sophia Smith, Bonnie Merkt; great-great-grandchild: Baylee Thompson; father of her children: Donald W. Smith; several nieces, nephews, and extended family member.
In addition to her parents, Sue is preceded in death by her husband, Jerry; brothers: Harry Delles, George Delles Jr., and two infant brothers; sisters: Athena Delles, Georgia Jackson, Katherine Willbayer, Darla Burns, Victoria Paul, and Millie Nyla; foster sister: Evelyn Hopkins.
The funeral service will be conducted at 12:00 p.m., Friday, May 1 ,2026 with Derrick Harrison officiating. Burial will follow at Dale Cemetery. Friends and family may gather at the funeral home from 10:00 a.m., until the time of service. Memorial contributions may be made to the Susan G. Komen Breast Cancer Research Fund or St. Gabriel’s Church in Sue’s honor.
