Mary Agnes Faber, 87, of Connersville died in her sleep on Thursday, January 29, 2026, at Caroleton Healthcare Center.
The daughter of Harland Gabbard and Lizzie Ellen Rose Gabbard, Mary was born on March 14, 1938, in Fox Town, Kentucky. She graduated from Connersville Senior High with the class of 1957. Mary opened her own upholstery business out of her home and was incredibly successful. She was a member of Calvary Baptist church and the Connersville Senior Center. Mary enjoyed listening to bluegrass with her grandsons playing Euchre and dominoes. She also spent every Sunday with her family working puzzles. In addition, Mary was an avid gardener and spent hours meticulously tending to her flowers and her yard. She also appreciated a good shopping trip, playing bingo, doing arts and crafts, as well as painting. No matter what she was doing, you could always find Mary’s beloved companion, Peppy, right by her side. Mary’s family miss her dearly, but are grateful for the love she bestowed upon them throughout their lives.
Mary is survived by her son: James Bruce Faber; daughter: Teresa Yvonne Faber Kalkhoff; grandchildren: Nicholas Steven Faber Jessee; Mathew Dylan Kalkhoff and his wife Reba; brother: Dale and Shirley Gabbard; sister: Emma Lee and Bill Keen; self-adopted children Todd (Angie) Faber; Tammy (Ray) Nimmo; canine companion: Peppy; several nieces, nephews, extended family members and friends.
In addition to her parents, Mary is preceded in death by her brother: Avery Gabbard; sisters: Freida Gabbard and Imogene Lakes.
The funeral service for Mary will be conducted at 12:00 p.m., Friday, February 6, 2026, at Showalter Blackwell Long Funeral Home, Myers Chapel, Connersville. Friends and family may gather at the funeral home from 11:00 a.m., until the time of service. A private burial will be conducted for her immediate family only. Memorial contributions may be made to the Wounded Warrior project in her honor.
