Michael Keith Thacker, 64, of Brookville died unexpectedly Monday, May 4, 2026, at his mother’s residence.
The son of Stanley Thacker and Janet Harris Grubb, Michael was born on November 5, 1961, in Indianapolis. He attended Warren Central high School in Indianapolis graduating in 1970. Michael proudly enlisted in the United States Navy and was deployed during the Gulf War. He was stationed onboard USS John F. Kennedy where he received the national defense and Sea Service Deployment Ribbon. He proudly served until his honorable discharge. Michael was employed at American Micro as a CNC machinist until his much-deserved retirement in 2022. He was a faithful member of American Legion post #1, VFW post #571, AmVets post #11, and the Eagles in Connersville. Michael was a pool shark. He played pool almost daily, won many tournaments, and took home just as many trophies. When he wasn’t holding his cue, you could find him surrounded by pull tabs. In addition, he was an avid car enthusiast. Michael enjoyed attending car shows, the Pumpkin Run, and the Trans Am National every year as he had his own 1977 Trans Am. Michael was a very private man, but everyone knew how much his 2 granddaughters meant to him, and how much he was looking forward to meeting his first grandson. Though his family is heartbroken, they know he is at peace and in a much better place.
In addition to his mother, Janet, Michael is survived by his sons: Chris Thacker and Salleah, Nathan Thacker; brothers: Jerry and Iris Grubb, Glen Thacker, Timothy Thacker; granddaughters: Cameryn, Shaylin; grandson on the way: Tre; best friend: Mike Brosier; many nieces, nephews, cousins, extended family members and many, many friends.
