We are heart broken to announce the death of our Mother. Mina June McKinley Snyder, 90, passed away peacefully surrounded by her children on Friday, August 7, 2026, at her residence.

She was born on June 15, 1936, in Knox County Kentucky, to Orin Lester McKinley and Addie Adams McKinley. She lived her life in Connersville Indiana. She was a believer of her Savior and was baptized at First Baptist Church. She was also loyal to her country, and was a Poll Worker on election days.

To all that knew her she had the gift of hospitality and poured her heart into to her family. She enjoyed cooking big meals for her family and friends. She was a Home Ec. Club Member for over 50 years, receiving countless blue ribbons and accomplished grand champion many times. She was well known for her delicious pies, especially her peanut butter pie.

She was a world traveler, visiting 11 countries, and all 49 states of the continental U.S.

She was a 1954 graduate of Connersville High School. She married John Albert Snyder on Sept. 18, 1954, in Jellico, Tenn. They raised three daughters, Kim (Dennis) Ashworth, of Union KY. Connie (Eric) Morse, of Georgetown, KY. Kara (Thomas) Henry, of Connersville, IN. She has two Grandsons, Ryan (Caitlyn) Ashworth of Hebron, KY. and Greg (Caitlin) Ashworth of Union, KY. Four great Granddaughters, Eliza June, Eleanor Grace, Avery Lynn, and Nora Irene.

She was employed at Roots Blower from 1954 to 1957. Then she and her daughter, Kim joined her husband, who was stationed at an Army Base in Gelnhausen Germany. After returning to the states, she worked at Nichols Real Estate as an agent. She was probably most known for her job as a letter carrier. She loved delivering the mail. She was the first women to carry mail in the county and was a member of the National Rural Carriers Association. She retired after 20 years of opening mailboxes in 1998.

She was preceded in death by her husband, John Albert (2023), her parents, and a sister, Donna Day.

She is survived by her brothers, Larry (Shirley) McKinley of Oxford, Ohio, Leland (Janet) McKinley of Fairfield, Ohio and William McKinley of Connersville, In. She also has numerous cousins, nephews and nieces.

We would like to thank our mom for being a loyal and loving wife, a fun loving, hard working, and devoted mother, grandmother, and great grandmother. She was our best cheerleader and supporter of all our activities, including, Bike-a-thon, Majorettes, Spartanettes, and Choir, to only name a few. She was also active in all her grandson’s sports and activities.

On April 22, 2014, she fell from leaning against an unstable deck rail. Her injuries were devastating, including T 4 paralyzation with 19 broken bones. It was a struggle, but she kept a positive attitude and strong will to live. She had wonderful family support.

We have been blessed to have had an amazing group of caregivers including Selena, Barbara, Donna, Barbie, Stephanie, and Elaine, who have loved and cared for Mom for many years. They have become an integral part of our family, and we are immensely grateful for their dedication to all of us.

The funeral service will be conducted by Stan Howard at 2:00 p.m., on Wednesday, August 12, 2026, at Showalter Blackwell Long Funeral Home, Myers Chapel, Connersville. Burial will follow at Union Cemetery Garden of Memories. Friends may visit at the funeral home from 11:00 a.m., until the time of service. Memorial Contributions may be made to the Fayette County Animal Shelter or Union Cemetery Garden of Memories in Mina’s honor.
