Norma June Evans, 89, of Connersville, died unexpectedly at her home, Sunday, July 6, 2025.
Norma was born on March 4, 1936, in Manilla, Indiana, to Wilbur E. and Mildred F. Palmerton Copple. She graduated from Manilla High School, graduating with the class of 1954. On May 14, 1955, Norma married Robert R. Evans at St. Gabriel Catholic Church in Connersville. Norma treasured the time she spent being a stay-at-home mother to her eight children. Her nurturing heart didn’t stop at her home; she also taught Religious Ed at St. Gabriel Catholic Church, instilling God’s love in the hearts of many young children. She also volunteered her time in the parish office assisting with various mailings with her friends. St. Gabriel Church was Norma’s home away from home. Norma’s life was dedicated to serving her Lord. She will be missed by her children, grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and her church family. Norma will be remembered for her strong faith, dedication, and unwavering love for her Lord.
Norma is survived by her children and their spouses: Joan McDivitt and Tim of Connersville; Cindy Barrett and Kenneth of Indianapolis; Cathy Whitecotton, Pam Northern and Jerry, Danny Evans and Jay, Michael Evans and Janice, all of Connersville; son-in-law: Jeff Jones of Connersville; her grandchildren: Janny Steele, Jeffrey Jones, Julie Spallinger, Benjamin Rowland, Jayma Bauer, Robert Barrett, Brandon Whitecotton, Veronica Hamilton, Christopher Northern, Greg Northern, Danielle, Luke, Shawn, Eric and Connor Evans; numerous great-grandchildren.
Norma is preceded in death by her parents; her husband of almost sixty years; daughter: Rita Jones; son: David Evans; grandchildren: Kenneth Robert Evans and David Allen Barrett.
Visitation for Norma’s family and friends will be conducted from 5:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. on Thursday, July 10, 2025, at Showalter Blackwell Long, Myers Chapel, Connersville, The Mass of Christian Burial will be conducted at 10:00 a.m. at St. Gabriel’s Catholic Church on Friday July 11, 2025, with Father Dustin Boehm officiating. Interment will follow in Glenwood Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made to St. Gabriel’s Catholic Church or the Fayette County Cancer Society.
