Shirley L. Krammes, 88, of West College Corner, Indiana, died peacefully Saturday, October 11, 2025.
Shirley was born on November 29, 1936, to George Curtis and Maud Harmon Beaty in Connersville, Indiana. She attended Connersville Senior High, graduating from the class of 1954. Shirley was employed at Payton Shoe Store for many years. Later, she was a home health aid working with the Union County Health Department until she finally retired at the young age of 70. Shirley was a strong independent woman. When her children were young, she often hand-made their clothes and the quilts they would keep warm with. Shirley was a phenomenal cook and made every delicious dish from scratch. She would often make her homemade noodles for bake sales and fundraisers, and before she could bring them inside people would line up to purchase them out of the trunk of car. Shirley enjoyed cooking for others as much as they enjoyed her food. When she wasn’t in the kitchen, Shirley could be found meticulously tending to her flower gardens or working on her family’s genealogy. She adored watching her grandson’s sporting events, taking them out for fun-filled adventures, and seeing them grow into outstanding men. When her great-grandchildren came along, she was so proud to be their grandmother. Shirley will be deeply missed by all who know and love her.
Shirley is survived by her children: Russell and his wife Lori Krammes, Nadine Krammes, Natalie and her husband Charles Barker; grandchildren: Jeremy and Ashley Krammes, Keith and Ashley Lakes, Curtis Krammes and his fiancé Katie, Samuel and Emma Barker, Catherine and Nichole Barker; eight great-grandchildren; sister-in-law: Betty Beaty; several nieces and nephews.
In addition to her parents, Shirley is preceded in death by her brothers and their wives: William Edwin and Mary Beaty, Eldon Ray and Virgie Beaty, Herman Beaty, Harold and Shirley Beaty.
Visitation for friends and family will be held from 6:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m., on Monday, October 20, 2025, at Showalter Blackwell Long Funeral Home, Fosdick Chapel, Liberty. The funeral service will be conducted at 11:00 a.m., on Tuesday, October 21, 2025, at the funeral home. Burial will follow in College Corner Cemetery, West College Corner, Indiana.
