Vivian C. Jones

Connersville native, Vivian C. Hensley Jones, 90, died peacefully Monday, October 5, 2026, at her residence surrounded by her loving family.

Vivian was born on March 31, 1936, to Ulysses and Bertha Hill Hensley. She graduated from Connersville Senior High in 1954. Vivian married Earl Jones on September 10, 1955; together they shared forty-four years of marriage prior to his passing in 1999.

Vivian was raised in an era where your work ethic was as important as your word. She was employed at Stant manufacturing in the assembly and inspection departments. At the same time, she received her real estate license and began helping families buy and sell homes. She retired from Stant in 1996 after thirty-one years. Following her much deserved retirement, Vivian worked at several area funeral homes as a door greeter and housekeeper and volunteered at FMH for many years. She was a member of Kappa Kappa Sigma, the Red Hat Society, and was a faithful member of First Baptist Church where she sang in the choir and taught Sunday School. Vivian enjoyed cooking family meals and making treats around Christmas. Then she would distribute them to all her family, friends, and neighbors. Vivian adored playing cards and traveling with her sisters. Every year a vacation was planned for each of their families to be together. She enjoyed spending her winters in Florida, and her summers back home in Indiana. Above all, she loved her children and grandchildren, and they loved her.

Vivian is survived by her son: Jeff Jones and his wife Sherry; grandchildren: Emily Schunk and her husband Derek, Jacob Jones; great-grandchildren: Erika and Harper; brothers: Nelson Hensley and Cindy, Richard Hensley; sisters: Sue Guerin, Pat Heck, Debbie Matney and Kerry; brother-in-law: Mike Olson; several nieces, nephews, neighbors and friends.

In addition to her parents and husband Earl, Vivian is preceded in death by her daughter: Kelly E. Jones; brother: David Hensley; sister: Barbara Olson; brother-in-law: Carl Heck; sister-in-law: Janette Hensley.

The funeral service will be conducted at 2:00 p.m., Friday, October 9, 2026, at Showalter Blackwell Long Funeral Home, Myers Chapel, Connersville with Pastor Mal Gibson officiating. Burial will follow at Dale Cemetery, Section K. Friends and family may gather at the funeral home from 12:00p.m., until the time of service. Memorial contributions may be made to the Fayette County Cancer Society in Vivian’s honor.
